Atlantic Street Center

Atlantic Street Center offers mental health counseling services, family support and youth development programs. It serves children and youth 5-18 years and their families. Most are youth of color who reside in central and southeast Seattle. Typically, the families they serve face problems that include single parent households or children in foster care, a household income at or below the federal poverty level, a limited support system, children underachieving academically, neighborhood detachment and isolation, and multicultural identity issues.

The Youth Development Program provides learning and leadership opportunities for youth to increase the personal learning, academic, and social skills they need to be successful in life. Services and activities focus on social skills and leadership development, volunteer and community service opportunities, enriching recreational and cultural activities, and academic support (including summer school); Family Centers at Rainier Beach and New Holly provide a safe, supportive place for parents and families to learn, grow and share. Services and activities focus on support and education for adult and teen parents, adult life skills and education classes, direct family support services, and positive cultural and recreational activities for children, youth and families.

The schedule of activities at the Family Centers can be obtained by contacting the main office or the Family Centers; the Counseling Program increases coping skills and stability for children, youth and families. Services and activities focus on positive behavioral changes, overcoming emotional challenges, increasing home and family stability, psychiatric support and traumatic recovery.
