Homicide-suicide in Covington leaves four children orphaned In the wake of the tragic murder of Jesika Wani and suicide of James Wani Soka on December 12, 2005, the Southern Sudanese Community of Washington is encouraging the public to make donations to the Wani and Jesika Fund to help support their four children, ages 2, 4, 14, and 17. The Wani family relocated to the Puget Sound region in 1995 from a refugee camp to escape the brutal civil war in their native country of Sudan. They were originally from Kajikaji, near Juba in Southern Sudan, and had to flee their village on foot during an attack by government troops from Northern Sudan. Donations to the Soka Benevolent Fund can be made at any Washington Mutual or Bank of America or by sending a check made out to the Soka Benevolent Fund to the Southern Sudanese Community of Washington, 510 2nd Ave. W, Seattle, WA 98119.
